This feels closer to what we used at home earlier. The flavour is clean, not bitter, and I like that it’s just turmeric, nothing added. Works well for everyday cooking.
Sonal Gupta
I bought this mainly because it’s not polished or mixed. The aroma is stronger than store-bought turmeric, and it blends well in food without that artificial brightness.
Rohit Menon
You can actually see the difference in colour compared to regular haldi. It’s deeper, more earthy, and you need less while cooking. Been using it daily in dals and sabzi.

Description
Raw and Unadulterated Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Advait Living’s haldi (turmeric) powder is made from naturally grown turmeric roots, sourced from our partner farms and prepared in small batches to retain their original character. The roots are dried and ground without artificial colouring, polishing, or blending, so what you see is the true colour, aroma, and strength of pure turmeric. There is no standardisation for appearance or mass consistency, so each batch reflects the crop it comes from. This is turmeric in its natural form, shaped by how it’s grown and handled, and suited for everyday cooking as well as traditional use.
Colour, Aroma & Texture
The colour ranges from deep yellow to golden, depending on the natural curcumin content of the turmeric in each batch. It is not standardised or artificially enhanced, so variation is expected and reflects the crop.
The aroma is warm, earthy, and slightly peppery, a characteristic of turmeric that has been freshly dried and ground without treatment.
The texture is fine and dry, allowing it to mix evenly into cooking and beverages without clumping.
Turmeric Powder Nutritional Profile (Per 100g)
Turmeric is consumed in small quantities, but its value comes from the concentration of active compounds rather than bulk nutrients.
- Curcumin: naturally occurring bioactive compound, typically ranges between ~2–5% depending on the crop
- Carbohydrates: ~60–70 g
- Protein: ~7–8 g
- Fat: ~8–10 g
- Fibre: ~20–25 g
Minerals (naturally occurring, not fortified):
- Iron
- Potassium
- Magnesium
Other components:
- Volatile oils that contribute to aroma and overall bioactive profile
- Natural antioxidant compounds present in turmeric rhizomes
The exact composition varies based on soil conditions, harvest timing, and processing, which is expected in naturally grown turmeric.
Benefits of Haldi Powder
1) Supports the Body’s Inflammatory Balance
Curcumin has been widely studied for its role in how the body responds to inflammation. When used consistently in food, it contributes to long-term balance rather than acting as an immediate intervention.
2) Contributes to Antioxidant Intake
Turmeric contains compounds that help neutralise oxidative stress from daily exposure to pollution, processed foods, and lifestyle factors.
3) Works Within the Way You Already Eat
Turmeric is not an add-on. It is already part of Indian cooking. Regular use in dals, vegetables, and curries allows consistent intake without changing dietary habits.
4) Supports Digestive Comfort Through Regular Use
Its inclusion in meals is traditionally linked to improved digestion, especially when used in warm, cooked preparations rather than isolated consumption.
5) Adds Functional Depth Beyond Flavour
Most ingredients only add taste. Turmeric contributes both flavour and active compounds, making everyday meals more functionally complete.
Storage & Shelf Life
Turmeric powder is sensitive to moisture, light, and air exposure, which can affect both aroma and potency over time.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from humidity
- Keep tightly sealed in an airtight container after opening
- Avoid direct sunlight, as it can reduce colour intensity and active compounds
Shelf Life: Best before 6 months from packaging under proper storage conditions.
Over time, the colour and aroma may gradually soften. This is a natural change and not a sign of adulteration.
Making Process
How Is Advait Living’s Haldi Powder Made?
Our haldi is grown organically on partner farms without the use of pesticides. The focus remains on soil health, natural growth cycles, and harvesting at full maturity rather than accelerated yield.
1. Sourcing at Maturity
Only fully mature turmeric rhizomes are selected after harvest and carefully graded to remove immature or inconsistent roots. This ensures depth of colour, aroma, and natural curcumin content from the start.
2. Cleaning and Selection
The rhizomes are washed and sorted to remove soil and inconsistent pieces. This step ensures uniformity without relying on blending or correction later.
3. Traditional Boiling & Steam Treatment
After harvesting and grading, the turmeric rhizomes are boiled and gently steamed. This traditional step stabilises the roots, enhances colour development, and prepares them for long-term storage without chemical treatment.
4. Sun Drying
The turmeric is sun-dried for 20–25 days until moisture is naturally reduced. This slow drying process concentrates colour, aroma, and active compounds without artificial heat.
5. Natural Conditioning for Shelf Stability
Once dried, the turmeric fingers are gently rolled in iron drums. This improves durability and shelf stability without affecting their natural composition.
6. Controlled Storage
The dried turmeric fingers are stored in cool, dark conditions to protect their colour, aroma, and natural compounds before grinding.
7. Stone Grinding in Small Batches
The dried turmeric is stone-ground in-house in small batches. This traditional method avoids excess heat and helps retain natural oils, colour, and potency.
8. No Alteration
There is no polishing, artificial colouring, or mixing with lower-grade material. The powder reflects the turmeric exactly as it is.
9. Immediate Packing
The powder is packed soon after grinding to retain freshness, aroma, and consistency.
Yield & Concentration
Approximately 100 kg of fresh turmeric yields only 20–22 kg of dried turmeric. This natural reduction reflects the concentration and density of the final product.

100% turmeric (haldi) powder made from naturally grown turmeric rhizomes.

How To Use?
Multiple Ways to Use Haldi Powder
Haldi is already part of daily cooking. The difference here is using it more intentionally and consistently.
1. Daily Cooking (Primary Use)
- Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon while cooking vegetables, dals, or curries
- Best added early in the cooking process to integrate flavour evenly
This is the most practical way to use turmeric consistently without changing your diet.
2. Haldi Milk (Traditional Use)
- Add ¼ teaspoon to warm milk
- Optional: combine with black pepper for better use
Commonly used as part of night-time or seasonal routines.
3. Warm Water or Herbal Use
- Mix a pinch in warm water
- Can be combined with ginger or lemon
Used occasionally in traditional practices for digestion and general wellness.
4. Marinades & Savoury Preparations
- Add to marinades for vegetables, paneer, or meat
- Works as both a flavour and colour base
Helps distribute turmeric evenly across the dish.
5. External Application (Optional Use)
Haldi can be used in small quantities for traditional skincare applications.
- Mix a pinch of haldi powder with curd, honey, or water to form a thin paste
- Apply a light layer on clean skin and leave for 5–10 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry
This is commonly used for basic skin maintenance and occasional use rather than daily application.

FAQ
Have questions? We've got answers! Check out our Frequently Asked Questions section for all the info you need. Find solutions, tips, and more to make your experience smoother.
Is this turmeric powder the best for cooking?
Yes, our turmeric powder is made from whole, naturally grown roots without any additives. It has a deep, natural colour and a strong, earthy aroma that makes it best for regular cooking.
How do I use turmeric powder in daily cooking?
Simple! Just add ¼ to ½ teaspoon while cooking dals, vegetables, or curries. It is usually added early in the cooking process to blend evenly with the dish.
How much haldi should I add to milk?
Typically, ¼ teaspoon is enough for one cup of warm milk. You can adjust slightly based on taste.
Can turmeric powder be taken with hot water?
Yes, a small pinch can be mixed into warm water. It’s commonly used this way in traditional routines.
Does turmeric powder dissolve in water?
No, it does not fully dissolve. It disperses in water or milk and mixes better when stirred or combined with warm liquids.
Does turmeric powder have the same benefits as fresh turmeric?
Both come from the same root. Powdered turmeric is more concentrated and easier to use daily, while fresh turmeric has a milder flavour and higher moisture.
Is turmeric powder spicy?
No. It has a warm, earthy, slightly bitter taste, not a sharp or spicy heat like chilli.
Can turmeric powder be used for face or skincare?
Yes. It is traditionally used in small quantities for face packs. Always mix with other ingredients like honey or curd for better results.
How should turmeric powder be stored? Does it expire?
Store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It usually keeps well for 6 months. Over time, the colour and aroma may soften naturally.
How is turmeric powder shipped and packed?
Each order is packed in sealed, food-safe packaging to protect freshness. Orders are usually processed within 2–3 business days and delivered across India.
Commercial haldi is extremely adulterated. I was looking for a brand that could provide me with authentic haldi powder with zero adulterants. I saw Advait's haldi test or their Instagram page and decided to try their haldi. I found this haldi pure and autherktic. The flavor was intense and pure. I've been adding it to my milk every night, and I'm happy to say I have had a good experience with their products. I'm sold on its purity.

Shop Raw Haldi Powder | Made From Naturally Grown Turmeric
Advait Living’s haldi powder is naturally made from mature turmeric rhizomes and prepared without colour correction, polishing, or chemical processing. The powder retains its original composition, including curcumin, natural oils, and aroma, which are often reduced in commercially standardised turmeric. This results in an unadulterated turmeric powder that reflects the characteristics of the crop rather than a uniform, factory-defined product.
This is not blended to achieve a fixed shade or diluted for volume. What you receive is turmeric in its original form, suitable for daily cooking where both flavour and composition matter.
What’s Special About Advait Living’s Haldi Powder?
- Derived from whole turmeric roots: Starts with complete rhizomes rather than mixed or leftover material. This preserves the original structure, flavour, and composition of the turmeric.
- Maintains integrity of source material: No blending to force uniform colour or dilute intensity. Each batch reflects the crop it comes from rather than a factory-defined standard.
- No colour enhancement or polishing: The colour comes entirely from natural curcumin content. There are no dyes or surface treatments used to make it appear brighter or more uniform.
- Natural variation indicates authenticity: Differences in shade across batches are expected and indicate that the turmeric has not been standardised or altered for appearance.
- Unadulterated turmeric powder with no fillers: No added starch, chalk, or bulking agents. What you are using is only turmeric, without dilution for volume or cost adjustment.
- No processing agents or chemical treatment: Free from sulphur, bleaching, or industrial refinement methods commonly used in large-scale production.
- Prepared to retain natural compounds: Drying and grinding are controlled to preserve curcumin, essential oils, and aroma without overheating or degradation.
- Aroma and flavour remain intact: The powder carries a strong, earthy profile that integrates into cooking without needing excess quantity.
- Consistent in behaviour, not artificially standardised: While appearance may vary slightly, performance in cooking remains reliable in terms of colour release and flavour.
