Key Features of Advait Living Premium Green Tea:

  • Single-Estate Origin: Our green tea comes from a single organic farm estate in Assam that has been growing tea for more than two decades.
  • High-Grade Loose Leaves: It is crafted from the highest quality ‘fine young Hyson’ leaves, renowned for their young, tender nature and distinctive long, thin, twisted appearance. The tea leaves unfurl gracefully when brewed, transforming into beautiful golden hues and releasing an incredibly rich flavour profile.
  • Unblended: Our green tea is single-estate unblended tea, higher in quality than other generic tea in terms of both purity and flavour.
  • Handcrafted Quality: Decades of experience in growing tea traditionally, plucking the young leaves just at the right time, and then perfecting the oxidation process manually, allows our tea to be bold, exquisite and minimally processed, embodying full natural flavours and nutrients.
  • Bold Flavour: Our premium green tea offers freshness and a full-bodied robust flavour. Not for the light-hearted, this bold tea offers notes of pine that linger on the palate, with a nutty, buttery and roasted aftertaste providing an unmatched sensory delight.
  • Health Benefits: Rich in natural antioxidants, it may promote brain function, support fat loss, reduce bad breath, and lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Making Process

The Making Process of Advait Living's Premium Green Tea

At Advait Living, the creation of our Premium Green Tea Leaves is a meticulous journey that honours tradition, nature, and craftsmanship. Here’s an in-depth look into the intricate process that transforms the finest Hyson leaves into a cup of pure joy:

1. Growing:

Our green tea starts its journey in the lush, fertile fields of Assam, near Golaghat and the renowned Kaziranga National Park. Here, small local farmers, who have honed their skills over generations, cultivate the tea plants organically. The region's unique climate and soil conditions contribute to the exceptional quality of the leaves.

2. Plucking:

Manual picking is done as it ensures high-quality tea and is highly dependent on the skill of the picker. Our Green tea comes from the second flush, meaning that the leaves are harvested during April-July, and only the young, tender hyson leaves are harvested. Typically, a second flush tea embodies a deeper body, darker appearance and a more satisfying experience.

3. Withering:

The freshly picked tea leaves are spread out in very thin layers on bamboo racks with the objective of reducing the moisture in the leaves. These are dried in natural air under shade for a minimum period of 20 to 24 hours.

4. Steaming:

To prevent oxidation and preserve the vibrant green colour and fresh flavour, the leaves are quickly pan-fired. This step involves heating the leaves in large pans usually for less than a minute, which halts the enzymatic activity that can lead to oxidation. The leaves are carefully monitored to ensure they are evenly heated without burning.

5. Hand Rolling:

The leaves are then rolled by hand, a delicate process that twists them into their characteristic long, thin, and twisted shapes. This rolling not only shapes the leaves but also helps in releasing the natural oils, enhancing the flavour and aroma.

6. Drying:

The leaves undergo a drying process to remove any remaining moisture. This ensures that the leaves are crisp and ready for packaging, preserving their quality and extending their shelf life. The drying process also locks in the distinctive flavour and aroma that our green tea is known for.

7. Sorting and Grading:

Once dried, the leaves are meticulously sorted and graded. Only the finest leaves that meet our stringent quality standards make it into our premium product. This careful grading ensures consistency in every batch, so you get the same exceptional experience with each cup.

8. Packaging:

The final step is the packaging of the tea leaves. We use eco-friendly, airtight food-grade tin containers to ensure that the leaves retain their freshness, flavour, and aroma until they reach your cup.

Commitment to Quality and Sustainability:

Throughout the entire process, from handpicking to packaging, we adhere to the highest standards of quality and sustainability. Our commitment to organic farming practices means that no harmful chemicals or pesticides are used at any stage. By supporting local farmers and using sustainable methods, we ensure that our tea is not only good for you but also for the environment.

100% whole-leaf green tea

Sustainable Packaging: Our green tea leaves are elegantly packed in high-quality tin containers. This eco-friendly packaging ensures the preservation of purity, with the added bonus of being reusable. Some outstation orders may include plastic wrap for efficient shipping. We encourage you to reuse or return our packaging, reinforcing our dedication to a greener, healthier planet.

How To Use?

To fully appreciate the exquisite flavour and health benefits of Advait Living Premium Green Tea Leaves, follow these simple steps for the perfect brew:

1. Measure the Tea Leaves:

For a single cup of tea, measure out 1 teaspoon (about 2 grams) of Advait Living Premium Green Tea Leaves and place the measured tea leaves into a teapot, infuser, or directly into your cup. Adjust the amount to suit your taste preferences and the quantity required.

2. Ready a Pot of Boiled Water:

For every cup bring about 150ml-200ml of fresh, filtered water to a boil. The ideal temperature for brewing green tea is around 175°F to 185°F (80°C to 85°C).

3. Steep the Tea Leaves:

Pour the hot water over the leaves and let them steep for 2 to 3 minutes. Watch as the leaves unfurl and release their golden hues, filling the air with a captivating aroma. Remember, brewing the tea for longer will produce a stronger flavour and over-steeping green tea may lead to some bitterness as well. The key here is to experiment with the brewing time until you discover the flavour that you enjoy the most.

4. Strain and Serve:

Strain your tea in a nice pre-warmed cup to enjoy the hot brew. Enjoy your tea as is, or add a touch of honey or a slice of lemon to enhance the flavour, if desired

5. Re-use the Leaves for Additional Cups:

Advait Living’s Green Tea is a bold tea and the leaves can be brewed for up to 2-3 cycles. Simply add additional hot water to your kettle and brew the leaves again for a fresh cup of tea.

Tips for the Perfect Cup:

  • Use fresh, filtered water for the best flavour.
  • Experiment with different steeping times and temperatures to find your perfect brew.
  • Avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.
  • Store the tea leaves in an airtight container away from light, moisture, and strong odours to maintain their freshness and quality.

Enjoy the full-bodied, flavourful notes of pine and the rich, aromatic experience of Advait Living Premium Green Tea Leaves with every sip.

What is green tea good for?

Health Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea is renowned not only for its delightful flavour but also for its numerous health benefits. Incorporating green tea into your daily routine can offer a range of health benefits, from improved brain function and weight management to enhanced heart and immune health.

Here are some key reasons why green tea is considered beneficial:

1. Rich in Antioxidants:

Green tea is packed with polyphenols and catechins, powerful antioxidants that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. The most notable of these is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is linked to various health benefits.

2. Boosts Brain Function:

Green tea contains caffeine, a known stimulant that improves brain function, mood, and reaction time. It also contains the amino acid L-theanine, which works synergistically with caffeine to enhance brain function without the jittery effects associated with coffee.

3. Aids Weight Loss:

Green tea is believed to boost metabolic rate and increase fat burning, particularly during exercise. Some studies suggest that green tea extracts or catechin supplements can help in weight loss, especially in the abdominal area.

4. Reduces Risk of Cancer:

The antioxidants in green tea, particularly EGCG, may help protect against certain types of cancer. Studies have shown that green tea drinkers have a lower risk of developing cancers such as breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer.

5. Improves Heart Health:

Green tea is beneficial for heart health. It helps lower LDL cholesterol levels, triglycerides, and total cholesterol. Additionally, it improves the function of the arteries, potentially reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

6. Enhances Oral Health:

Green tea has natural antibacterial properties that can help reduce the growth of bacteria in the mouth. This can lead to improved oral health, reduced bad breath, and lower risk of dental infections.

7. Supports Brain Health and Aging:

The bioactive compounds in green tea can have protective effects on the brain, potentially lowering the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Regular consumption is linked to a lower risk of cognitive decline.

8. Helps Manage Type 2 Diabetes:

Green tea can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels. Studies have shown that green tea drinkers have a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

9. Promotes Digestive Health:

Green tea aids digestion by improving gut health and reducing inflammation. It can also help detoxify the body, promoting overall digestive wellness.

10. Supports Immune System:

The antioxidants and other compounds in green tea help boost the immune system, making the body more resistant to infections.

Whether enjoyed as a soothing hot beverage or a refreshing iced drink, green tea is a delicious way to support your overall well-being.

Is it ok to drink green tea daily?

Yes, it is generally considered safe to drink green tea daily as part of a balanced diet. In fact, drinking green tea regularly has been associated with numerous health benefits, as mentioned earlier.

However, it's essential to consume green tea in moderation and be mindful of any individual sensitivities or health conditions.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when drinking green tea daily:

1. Caffeine Sensitivity:

Green tea contains caffeine, albeit in lower amounts compared to coffee. If you're sensitive to caffeine or if you're consuming other caffeinated beverages throughout the day, be mindful of your total caffeine intake to avoid potential side effects like jitteriness, insomnia, or increased heart rate.

2. Time of Consumption:

Due to its caffeine content, it's best to avoid drinking green tea late in the day or close to bedtime if you're sensitive to caffeine. Consuming green tea earlier in the day can help prevent disturbances in your sleep.

3. Quality and Preparation:

Opt for high-quality green tea made from whole leaves for the best flavour and health benefits. Additionally, be mindful of how you prepare your green tea. Avoid steeping it in water that is too hot or for too long to prevent bitterness and preserve its delicate flavours.

5. Interaction with Medications:

If you're taking medications or have a pre-existing medical condition, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider before adding green tea to your daily routine. Green tea may interact with certain medications or exacerbate certain health conditions, so it's crucial to ensure it's safe for you.

As with any dietary change, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Can green tea burn fat?

Yes, green tea has been shown to have fat-burning properties, although the extent of its effectiveness may vary from person to person. Several studies have suggested that the catechins and caffeine in green tea can boost metabolism and increase fat burning, leading to potential weight loss benefits.

Here's how green tea may help in burning fat:

1. Boosts Metabolism:

Green tea contains catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which have been found to increase thermogenesis, the process by which the body burns calories to produce heat. This can lead to a slight increase in metabolic rate, helping the body burn more calories throughout the day.

2. Increases Fat Oxidation:

Green tea catechins, especially EGCG, have been shown to enhance the oxidation of fat, particularly during exercise. This means that the body may use fat as a fuel source more efficiently, potentially aiding in fat loss.

3. Suppresses Appetite:

Some studies suggest that green tea may have appetite-suppressing effects, helping to reduce calorie intake and promote weight loss. This could be attributed to the combination of caffeine and catechins, which may act on appetite-regulating hormones in the body.

4. Reduces Fat Absorption:

Green tea may inhibit the absorption of fats and carbohydrates in the digestive tract, leading to fewer calories being absorbed from food. This could contribute to weight loss over time, especially when combined with a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

5. Increases Energy Expenditure:

The caffeine content in green tea can stimulate the central nervous system, leading to increased energy expenditure and fat burning. This may result in improved workout performance and greater calorie burn during physical activity.

Can I drink green tea on an empty stomach?

Yes, you can drink green tea on an empty stomach, and many people do so as part of their morning routine. However, it's essential to be mindful of how your body reacts to it, as some individuals may experience discomfort or side effects when consuming green tea on an empty stomach.

Here are a few things to consider:

1. Caffeine Sensitivity:

If you're sensitive to caffeine or prone to stomach issues, you may want to consume green tea with food to help mitigate any potential side effects.

2. Acidic Nature:

Green tea is slightly acidic, which can sometimes aggravate stomach acidity or cause acid reflux in susceptible individuals, particularly on an empty stomach. If you have a history of acid reflux or gastrointestinal issues, it may be best to drink green tea with food or after meals to reduce the risk of irritation.

3. Individual Tolerance:

Everyone's body reacts differently to foods and beverages, so it's essential to pay attention to how your body responds to green tea on an empty stomach. If you experience any discomfort, such as stomach upset, nausea, or heartburn, consider adjusting your consumption habits accordingly.

4. Hydration:

Drinking green tea on an empty stomach can help hydrate the body and kickstart your metabolism in the morning. However, it's essential to stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water, especially if you're consuming caffeinated beverages like green tea.

5. Personal Preference:

Whether you choose to drink green tea on an empty stomach or with food depends on your personal preferences and how your body reacts to it. Some people find that green tea on an empty stomach provides a gentle energy boost and aids digestion, while others prefer to consume it with food to avoid potential discomfort.

What is the best time to drink green tea?

The best time to drink green tea can vary depending on your personal preferences, lifestyle, and health goals.

Here are some common times when people choose to enjoy green tea:

1. Morning:

Drinking green tea in the morning can be a refreshing way to start your day. Its moderate caffeine content can provide a gentle energy boost without the jitters associated with coffee. It may also help kickstart your metabolism and promote alertness and focus for the day ahead.

2. Between Meals:

Drinking green tea between meals, such as mid-morning or mid-afternoon, can help curb hunger cravings and prevent overeating. It can also aid digestion and promote feelings of satiety, making it a healthy choice for snacking occasions.

3. Before or After Exercise:

Green tea can be a beneficial beverage to consume before or after exercise. Its caffeine content may enhance endurance and performance during workouts, while its antioxidant properties can help reduce oxidative stress and support recovery post-exercise.

4. With Meals:

Some people find that green tea pairs well with certain foods, enhancing their flavours and providing a refreshing palate cleanser.

5. Before Bed:

While green tea does contain caffeine, it has lower levels compared to coffee and black tea. If you're not particularly sensitive to caffeine, drinking green tea before bed may be a relaxing way to wind down and promote relaxation.

6. Throughout the Day:

There's no strict rule about when to drink green tea, so you can enjoy it throughout the day based on your preferences and lifestyle. Some people prefer to sip on green tea consistently throughout the day to stay hydrated and reap its potential health benefits.

The best time to drink green tea is whenever it fits into your daily routine and aligns with your personal preferences and health goals.

Is green tea good for the skin?

Yes, green tea is beneficial for skin health and is often praised for its potential to improve various skin conditions and promote a healthy complexion.

Here are some ways in which green tea can benefit the skin:

1. Rich in Antioxidants:

  • Green tea is loaded with antioxidants, particularly catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
  • These antioxidants help neutralise free radicals, which can damage skin cells and accelerate ageing.
  • By protecting the skin from oxidative stress, green tea may help prevent premature ageing and maintain a youthful appearance.

2. Anti-Inflammatory Properties:

The anti-inflammatory properties of green tea can help soothe irritated skin and reduce redness and inflammation associated with conditions like acne, rosacea, and eczema. Applying green tea topically or drinking it regularly may help calm the skin and promote a clearer complexion.

3. UV Protection:

Studies suggest that the polyphenols in green tea, particularly EGCG, may help protect the skin from UV damage caused by exposure to sunlight. While green tea cannot replace sunscreen, incorporating it into your skincare routine may provide an additional layer of protection against sunburn and UV-induced skin ageing.

4. Acne Treatment:

  • Green tea contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that can help combat acne-causing bacteria and reduce the severity and frequency of breakouts.
  • Topical application of green tea extract or using skincare products containing green tea may help improve acne-prone skin and promote clearer pores.

5. Skin Brightening:

  • The catechins in green tea can help brighten and even out the skin tone by inhibiting melanin production and reducing the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.
  • Regular use of green tea-based skincare products or incorporating green tea into your diet may help achieve a more radiant complexion.

6. Hydration:

Green tea is hydrating and can help maintain the skin's moisture balance, preventing dryness and dehydration. Whether applied topically or consumed orally, green tea can contribute to softer, smoother, and more supple skin.

7. Anti-Ageing Effects:

  • The potent antioxidants in green tea can help protect collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, which are essential for maintaining elasticity and firmness.
  • By preserving the skin's structural integrity, green tea may help minimise the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin associated with ageing.

Whether you choose to apply it topically or enjoy it as a refreshing drink, green tea offers a myriad of benefits for skin health and beauty.

Can I drink green tea at night?

Yes, you can drink green tea at night, but there are a few factors to consider to ensure it doesn't interfere with your sleep or cause other issues.

Here are some tips and considerations for drinking green tea at night:

1. Caffeine Content:

Green tea contains caffeine, although in lower amounts than coffee or black tea. If you are sensitive to caffeine or if you find that caffeine affects your sleep, it might be best to avoid drinking green tea close to bedtime.

2. Calming Effects:

Green tea contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and helps counteract the stimulating effects of caffeine. For some people, this combination can provide a calming effect, making green tea a soothing beverage to enjoy in the evening.

3. Hydration:

Drinking green tea can help keep you hydrated, which is beneficial for overall health. Consider drinking your green tea at least an hour or two before bed.

4. Night Time Ritual:

For many people, having a cup of green tea can be a relaxing part of their nighttime routine, helping to wind down after a busy day. Green tea can be a great addition to your evening routine if you find it comforting and doesn't disrupt your sleep.

5. Digestive Health:

Green tea can aid in digestion, which might be beneficial after a late dinner. Its anti-inflammatory properties can help soothe the digestive tract and reduce bloating or discomfort.

It is best to stick to one cup in the evening to minimise the risk of caffeine-related sleep issues and night time bathroom trips.

How to use green tea for weight loss?

Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to effectively use green tea to support weight loss:

1. Choose High-Quality Green Tea:

  • Opt for whole-leaf green tea or matcha, which retains more nutrients compared to tea bags.
  • Ensure the tea is fresh and free from additives and artificial flavours.

2. Timing Your Consumption:

  • Morning: Start your day with a cup of green tea to kickstart your metabolism.
  • Before Meals: Drinking green tea 30 minutes before meals can help you feel fuller, potentially reducing your overall calorie intake.
  • Before Exercise: Consuming green tea before a workout may enhance fat oxidation and improve exercise performance.

Why is unblended green tea better than generic green tea?

Unblended tea, often referred to as single-origin or single-estate tea, is valued for its purity and distinct flavour profile that reflects the unique characteristics of its growing region.

The goodness of unblended tea can be summarized as follows:

  1. Purity and Quality: Unblended tea offers a pure taste experience, free from the mixture of different tea leaves. This ensures a higher quality product where the characteristics of the specific tea variety can be appreciated in their entirety.
  2. Unique Flavor Profiles: Each unblended tea carries the distinct flavours and aromas of its origin. Factors such as the soil, climate, and cultivation methods contribute to the tea's unique profile, allowing connoisseurs to explore a wide range of tastes from different regions.
  3. Traceability: With unblended tea, it is easier to trace the origin of the tea leaves, providing transparency and assurance about the tea's source. This can be particularly important for those who prioritize ethical and sustainable sourcing practices.
  4. Health Benefits: The high quality and lack of additives in unblended tea often mean that it retains more of its natural antioxidants and beneficial compounds, contributing to better health benefits compared to some blended varieties.
  5. Cultural Appreciation: Drinking unblended tea allows for a deeper appreciation of the cultural and traditional practices of tea-producing regions. It connects consumers to the heritage and craftsmanship involved in tea production.

Unblended tea is prized for its authentic taste, high quality, and rich cultural experience it offers, making it a favourite among tea enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

What is the difference between blended and unblended teas?

Blended Vs Unblended Teas

When comparing blended and unblended teas, unblended teas are typically of higher quality. In blended teas, lower quality leaves can be mixed with higher quality ones, masking the true quality of the tea.

Unblended teas, however, maintain purity and offer a more authentic taste experience. They come in two types:

i) single-estate, sourced from one specific plantation, and

ii) single tea type, which refers to a specific variety of tea without mixing different types.

Unblended teas allow for the distinct flavours and characteristics of their origin to shine through, providing a superior and more transparent tea-drinking experience.
